Peace. It can be an elusive feeling. Our lives are busy and noisy. Add in a constant stream of insecurities, fears and worries, and peace becomes a fairy tale only found in pages of story books.
In Psalm 91:9, the words are similar to today’s reading: “Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place.” Lately, I’ve had to re-evalute where my dwelling place is. Not in the physical sense, but with my thoughts and emotions. Where do I spend the most of my spare time? It’s where your thoughts keep coming back over and over. It is where you find comfort and where you feel safe. It’s the way you constantly pick at that one flaw you’ve found on your body or the lonely place you go to when your single season drags on and on. It’s the daydream you chase, hoping that someday it will be reality.
I want the most High to be my dwelling place. Because He is peace. When I dwell in Him, I have no worries. My insecurities fade away in the light of eternity. I have strength and hope. I don’t have to chase peace when my dwelling place is in Him.
