Day 259: The Proverbs 31 Woman (Proverbs 30-31; 2 Corinthians 8)

day-259

The Proverbs 31 woman is well-known. To some, she is the woman we strive to be. To others, she is a myth – unrealistic and unachievable. That’s why today’s devotional is more of an activity rather than a traditional devotional.

The question is, what kind of woman do you aspire to become? We all have some vision of who we aspire to be – maybe she’s a thinner version of you now, or she does yoga daily, has five well-behaved children or runs her own successful business.

If you haven’t already, start a Pinterest board for this vision you have. Or, if you’re more of a writer, put it in words. What does the best version of you do daily? What are her aspirations? How do others describe her? What characteristics, skills and traits has she developed?

Got it? Good.

Now, take out your Bible and a notebook. Summarize and list out who the Proverbs 31 woman is (this study is great if you want to go really in-depth). How does she spend her days? What characteristics does she exhibit? Make the study even more in-depth by referencing different versions of this passage and looking up synonyms and definitions for some of the traits you list out. Try to figure out how some of the things on your list look like in the modern day.

Now, put the two vision boards and/or lists side by side and compare. Is there anything from the Proverbs 31 list that can be moved to your vision board? Or maybe there is something you want to take off your vision board after studying the Proverbs 31 woman.
