Day 231: Chosen (Psalm 112-115; 1 Corinthians 1)

“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty.” -1 Corinthians 1:27

I never wanted to be a lawyer. In fact, it was never even in the realm of my wildest dreams. But then God decided to take this ordinary girl and started doing some extraordinary things in her life. Y’all, this verse became my anthem when law school made me cry in frustration and opportunities that seemed too good to be true actually came true.

Day 231

I know I sound like a broken record when I keep saying this, but God can use any of us anywhere for anything. In fact, this is probably the only time when weaknesses are good. Because when we are weak, He is strong and the glory goes to Him. Then, our lives become a testimony of how mighty our God is, not how smart/pretty/accomplished we are.

You may never feel truly ready or equipped to take the next step. There will always be room for improvement. There will always be someone who is doing things better than you. This might hold you back or force you to push your calling into the someday future when you’ll be prettier, thinner, stronger, more talented, more spiritual, have more money or time, etc…

Friend, we serve the same God who has taken some of the most ordinary people to do His work. Like telling Moses with his speech difficulties to lead the people of Israel to the Promised Land, anointing David king at a young age even though he had brothers much more kingly than him, and choosing Apostle Paul to write most of the New Testament when the man formerly lead the crusade against Christians.

So, don’t tell God He can’t choose you. You’re already chosen. Now, its time to obey and step into the center of God’s will. You know what it is. Deep inside your heart. It might terrify you or seem too big. But if it will glorify God and utilize the talents, skills and experiences God’s give you thus far, then it’s your calling. Go for it, friend! God’s got your back!
