Day 222: The Good News (Psalm 88-89; Romans 10)

DAY 22 Tirzah in the Word

“And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?” -Romans 10:15

Sometimes it may seem to us that the whole world has already heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ – or at the very least that everyone around us has. So, we use that as an excuse not to preach the good news to our co-workers, friends, family and anyone else we meet in our daily lives. We think that if they’re interested, they will ask us. Or maybe we just don’t want to be “pushy” or “preachy.”

But this is what you and I were called to do. We’re not trying to sell some magic potion though door to door sales, nor is our faith a cheesy infomercial at a one time bargain price. What we have to share is not shameful or sleazy. It is GOOD. In our hearts and minds, we have the ability to tell someone who has long been held in the bondage of addiction and sin that we know the One who forever broke the shackles of death. We hold the keys to freedom, peace, joy, and most importantly, an invitation to become an heir to an eternal kingdom. We know where Living Water and the Bread of Life can be found.

For those people who have spent a life thirsting for Truth and searching for freedom, this news is gold. And you and I are the bearers of this news. It’s like when you find out about a really great sale – you can choose to tell your girl friends about it or you can heard all the things to yourself.

Y’all, let’s not be selfish with this treasure we’ve been given. Unlike that super sale at your favorite store, there is plenty of Jesus to go around for everyone. It is literally the gift that keeps on giving. So, pass it on. To the barista, to your roommate, to your Facebook friends, and to anyone who will listen. You plant those seeds and God will give the increase.
