When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor. -Psalm 8:3-5
Sometimes, we forget our place in the grand scheme of things. Have you ever gone on a hike or watched a glorious sunset at the beach? I’m talking about the type of views of nature that take your breath away and leave you standing in awe of God’s natural creation. We try to photograph those moments, but photos rarely do it justice.
The Creator of those views and sunsets also deemed man worthy of being entrusted with knowledge and free will. But because of that, sometimes we get too big for our britches and we forget our place in the hierarchy. Yes, we are daughters of the King of Kings. We are chosen and royalty. But even amongst the royals, there are two types of people: the ones who abuse their power and the ones who accept it with humility and elegance. Let us be the latter.
Wear your crown with dignity, but don’t look down on anyone else and never trample on someone else’s feelings to make yourself look better. Use your power and talents for good and for His glory, not to further your own ambitions or personal brand. Don’t expect to be waited on hand and foot, but learn to serve others. You won’t be given everything on a silver platter, even if your Father does have the whole world at His disposal, so learn to work hard and to be grateful for all that you’ve been given. You have direct access to the throne of God and He hears your prayers, so use that privileged access to bring before God not only your needs, but the needs of the people around you.
With our standing as children of God, comes great responsibility. So, may we be a generation of elegant and set apart women who always bring glory and honor to our King.
