Day 180: Limits (Job 16-18, Acts 9:1-22)

Often, I find myself evaluating my life. In doing so, I tend to think God cannot change me or use me to help others. I knew God can transform people, but looking at my own past, and sometimes even my present, I find transformation impossible for me.

“But Lord,” exclaimed Ananias, “I’ve heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to believers in Jerusalem! And he is authorized by the leading priests to arrest everyone who calls your name.” -Acts 9:13-14 (NLT)

According to Ananias, God was making a mistake! Saul was a man doing all kinds of evil things to God’s chosen people, so how could God use him in ministry? As people tend to do, Ananias was placing a limit on what God could do by looking at Saul’s history.

But the Lord said, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to the kings, as well as to the people of Israel.” -Acts 9:15 (NLT)

Our God is so awesome! God knew everything about Saul – flaws, faults, mistakes and even the good things about him, he knew it all! He took the limits that where placed all around Saul, got his attention, cleaned him up, and chose him for ministry.

Despite it all, God can transform circumstances and He can transform us. But, we must remove the limits that we or society set for ourselves. There is nothing unattainable for God!
