Day 179: Holy Spirit (Job 13-15, Acts 8:26-40)

The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over an walk along beside the carriage.” Phillip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Phillip asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” The man replied, “How can I, unless someone instructs me?” And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him. -Acts 8:29-31 (NLT)

I remember times when I’ve gotten a gut feeling, or a prompting, speaking directly to me, spontaneous, yet confirmed deep within. I’m sure all of us can share different ways we’ve been guided and led by something within. This notion, this peaceful, yet unavoidable feeling is the Holy Spirit!

The Holy Spirit is Jesus, alive within you! Leading and guiding us (if we are willing) through the how, when and what’s of our lives. Philip heard the Holy Spirit, listened and eagerly ran to obey the instruction he was given.

At times, the Holy Spirit has moved within me, giving me clear, specific, direction but I hesitated or refused to move, out of fear.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! -Galatians 5:22 NLT

If you question whether or not your being led by the Holy Spirit, reflect on the character of Jesus, then you can go running like Philip to the next opportunity to be used!
