And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this? -Esther 4:14
It’s a serious question and one I think about often. Is this the time and place God created me for? The answer, my friend, is always “Yes”. God knows your heart and you are an integral part of each and every day the Lord gives you.
Nonetheless, I find this hard to remember. I’m in my third year of college and it is difficult not to panic every time I think about graduation. I get caught up in all the when’s of life… when I graduate, when I find a job, when I get married, when I have kids… and the list keeps going. But those are all tomorrows’ worries.
I have a life right now. I have a God-given purpose today and that’s what I need to focus on. Acts 5:42 says, “And everyday, in the temple and from house to house they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus.”
The Apostles were present each day, doing what the Lord called them to do. They were not apprehensive of their future, trying to figure out their purpose or how to become famous evangelists. We all have a purpose and were all created to further the Kingdom of God. But, it’s not always about a plan or something grandiose. Remember, for most of her young life, Esther was just an ordinary girl – a nobody. But, in time, her moment to shine – to step into the center of God’s will for her life – came. Your time will come too, but until then, make the most of today, no matter how “ordinary” it is.
