Jesus was teaching a crowd of people for a while when his disciples came to him and told him that it might be time to send the people away to find some dinner. Jesus responded, “You give them something to eat.” The disciples are confused by this command. Are they really supposed to go and buy food for all of these people? That would take more money than they could earn in half a year! Jesus calmly told His disciples to go and find what they can. When they returned to Him with five loaves and two fish, He blessed the food and then asked the disciples to begin passing it out.
And there was more than enough.
I’m pretty sure Jesus could have fed the people anyways, but He invited His disciples to be part of the miracle. We also come to God with our doubts and problems and “not enough” situations. Sometimes, His response is not what we expect. Because sometimes, God invites us to use our hands to become a part of the miracle. God is always inviting us to become a part of His story. The question is, are we willing to leave our comfort zone to say yes to Him?
