Day 52: Identity in Christ (Numbers 5-6; Mark 4:1-20)

I have many different ways to label myself. There are my most basic labels, like female or 21 years old. I also have more complex labels like college student, musician, or youth group leader. While these things are all true, the most important piece of my identity is my identity in Christ. I am who God is and who He made me to be; everything else that I am steams from this central identity.

In Numbers 6, the Lord speaks to Moses Aaron’s Benediction and in the last verse it reads:

So they shall invoke My name on the sons of Israel, and I then will bless them. -Numbers 6:27 (NASB)

By placing His name on the Israelites the Lord gives the Israelites a new identity, an identity in Him. When you truly find your identity in Christ, your faith is no longer superficial, because you became the good fruit bearing soil that Jesus talks about in the Parable of the Sower and Soils.

I will leave you with two questions to discuss in the comments:

What does it mean to find your identity in Christ?

How does your identity in Christ help you to witness to other people?
